Do's and Dont's After a Manicure

Every girl/woman gets Manicure/Pedicure atleast once a week or for some Nailaholics like me atleast twice a week. Hahaha. I like seeing my nails after they have been perfectly polished and just posting it in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and etc. (Bragging rights I guess) :)

But Manicures/Pedicures can be so costly nowadays especially when you want to use branded polish like OPI, China Glaze, Essie and Orly. Some salons especially those who are located at malls can charge you for Manicures from P200-P450. (Expensive to be a girl right?Lol)

And I always encouter problems after a Manicure like smudges, fingerprints on your newly polished nails, chipped after 2 days, breaking your nails and the list goes on and on...

So Now that I have a Nail Salon, and since I always encounter dilemmas like these, here are my 101 guide for you ladies out there who wants to keep her newly polished nails lasts longer :)

1. After picking the perfect color of polish make sure to have the Nail Technician or yourself test the texture of the polish, if its sticky it means its not good anymore, it's hard to be applied because it won't be even enough so it dries like FOREVER.

2. Always make sure that a basecoat is applied regardless of the brand, this not only protects your nails from turning yellow but the nail polish would be adhesive enough and be evenly applied better.

3. Never be in a hurry. We all know that time is of essence, but since you took the time to visit your fave salon, make time of having it totally dry even before getting your car keys from your bag. Manicures are a work of art so you don't rush a masterpiece. :)

4. Always ask for a quick dry solutions ONLY IF ITS DRY ENOUGH not to smudge. Quick Dry is an oil based solution, so if you apply it on a wet polish then you just might wait longer.

5. Nail Dry Machines are tricky. Sure its fancy but some polish don't work well with it, if its a fan based machine then it can dry faster but can be prone to bubble formation, you don't want a bumpy nail beds. If its LED light based then make sure to ask if it can work well with your chosen polish, it might be harsh enough that it'll melt your polish. Worst case scenario.

TIP: You can instead have your nails dipped in a luke warm water, since nail polish are cold based and compacted in bottles that has a lower temp so it won't dry, so lukewarm water gives a higher temp making it faster to dry. :)

6. Avoid doing the ff after your manicure for atleast 30mins to an hour; opening a canned soda, zipping your pants, reaching out for your wallet (I find it smart for my clients who pay first since this is a very common dilemma, it saves your time and effort),writing an essay (Manicures are rewards for our hands especially when we know we used them wisely, so if you're planning to have your nails done before doing a report or sort then think twice, it'll be frustrating if your nails are ruined even before you finish it) :)

7. This one's personally my fave; NEVER COOK or go near the stover after a fresh manicure. Polish are like paint, they melt! So better just use the microwave oven for the meantime or let your husband or boyfriend do all the cooking, it'll be fun!:)

8. Finally, after you're manicure is done you can always stay a little and have it air dried, read a magazine, browse the web or just listen to good music. It's so relaxing to stay awhile in your fave salon & spa.

Its been more than a week since our soft opening and I must say it was so overwhelming to see familiar faces coming back at our salon since their first visit and now I'm content that were doing the right thing and providing a good service to our clients.

Anyway, Everyone's been assuming that just because I own a salon I get to have my nails done ALL THE TIME, NA-AH! It's funny because since we always have clients coming in it was just yesterday that I get to have my nails done again :) And now I know why everyone's been falling asleep at our couch, its so relaxing especially when the weather is so gloomy. So imagine me, having my nails done and literally fell asleep, so my Nail Technician Fe had to do it over and over again since she doesn't want to wake me up. :)

Our salon offers Basic Nail Art at P250 (with cleaning already) but this time we used Nail Stamp so this is just for P150 (with cleaning already), our salon uses OPI, BK, BYS and other imported nail polish. Visit us since our promo prices will be ending soon! HURRY!

It was May 17, 2013 that we had our Nail Studio blessed, and celebrated a new chapter for all of us. Everyone's been asking me why I wanted to put up a Nail Salon when in fact we have an existing Hair Salon & Spa. TILE LOVER.

Me and my mom are actually the ones designing and conceptualizing the Nail Salon, everything from the materials, furnitures, fixtures, lights and especially the tiles. We went to Wilcon Depot (Taytay Branch) and it's actually my first time visiting Wilcon because usually we'd opt to visit MC Home Depot, but since its more accessible it's more convenient for us. Anyway, we checked out the tiles, the designs and sizes.

I must say I immediately fell inlove with some of the designs.

I wasn't able to take actual pics because I think it's not allowed. hahahha. But here's an idea.

I want the comfort room be the daintiest and posh one, everything in combi of pink and white and accented with fine displays. And I'm sure you'll agree with me that the most important part of any establishment is the comfort room, and like my mom we have frustrations of designing a place. Hopefully the design that we've come up will be great and everyone would appreciate it. 

Try to visit Wilcon Depot, BTW. the good thing about them is you dont need to give out actual measurements you just give them an idea of the floor plan;. :)

A WAY TO BEGIN.

Hi, my name is Karen Cobilla, I'm a HRM graduate from La Salle College Antipolo, after I graduated I worked full time for my parents in our family business and at the same time I ventured into designing shoes and opened my own line. But I then decided to work in the corporate world, outside of our family business.

 And just recently, I decided to give up the career and open my own Nail Salon here in Antipolo. Well, you might say that I'm confused on who or what I want to be. But hey, I'm a Jack-Of-All Trades, I know where to put my game or not. And being a fashion enthusiast I always love Nail Art/Nail DIYs and whatevs. I think Nails are your best accessories and it brings out your personality.

So now, I think the best way for me to start everything is through a blog, and people would appreciate the craft of nail art. Some people mistakenly sees it as an exaggerated way to accessorize. But I think, just like any person you see their personality through their nails.
